The Lore Of Gremlins
The name “Gremlins” was adopted in 2019 when a young group of passionate cyclists started hosting night time group rides around London and Toronto. The saying was: “Dont give the Gremlins beers after dark.” implying they would wreak havoc on the city if they partook in libations.
The idea to open a bicycle repair workshop was first hatched in late 2019 when a young Carson Lessif started buying and fixing second hand bicycles out of his garage studio. In march of 2020, shortly after the first few bikes left Carson’s shop, the Covid-19 pandemic broke out which sent the entire bicycle industry into a scrambled frenzy. With the sudden influx of people getting into cycling and the backlog in the supply chain, buying, fixing, and flipping second hand bikes turned out to be a very viable business. It was around this time that Aaron Greenhow and Mason Lover joined Carson in the effort to keep up with the demand for affordable second hand bikes and create a marketable brand to represent the workshop.
Fast forward to February of 2021 and it was all hands on deck in constructing our first shop in London on Adelaide Street.
When new bike supply was scarce and brick and mortar bike shops were overwhelmed with service. Having experience buying and selling on Kijiji, Facebook Marketplace, and Ebay, Carson and Aaron wasted no time in collecting second hand bikes from around Ontario, servicing them, and relisting them for sale. This proved to be quite a fun job!
